Commissioning Wappenschmied means you will receive a carefully crafted and professionally created piece of art. I draw all my letters, ornaments and illustrations by hand and from scratch & will always make sure to provide a 100% customized product. From traditional quill calligraphy and runic carvings to clean, vector-based letterings and distorted Black-Metal-abominations - I cover a wide variety of styles.

Who is Wappenschmied?
Back in 2011 I was drawing my very first metal logo. By that time I was already a metal enthusiast for about five years and my love for illustration and art started basically the day I was born. So this whole thing here was practically inevitable.
In the meantime I studied graphic design and my passion for heavy music stayed while my love for design, letterings and typography grew with my skills and my training. I’m a fan of Black, Pagan and Folk metal, but I enjoy also some good Stoner Rock as much as gloomy, mysterious Dungeon Synth soundscapes or cheesy, bombastic Power Metal, that takes me back to my young metal-days.
In case you wondered: WAPPENSCHMIED is German for “shield-smith” or “forger of crests”.
